Preparing for Your Boudoir Session

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

Here are some quick and easy boudoir session prep tips for your upcoming boudoir session!

Choose your wardrobe

Lingerie is a great option for your boudoir session, but remember, you don't have to wear it if you don't want to. A super cute oversized sweater, your partner's favorite button down shirt, sports jersey, or even a tight shirt and your favorite booty shorts are great alternatives. Be sure to try on your outfits prior to your session to ensure everything fits properly. Clothes that are too tight or far too large will not be comfortable for you and when you're uncomfortable, you're not having fun! If you have clothing that makes you feel super sexy and downright magical, bring that! Variety is GREAT and there are no requirements -- just bring outfits you love that make you feel fucking awesome.

Don't Forget Accessories

Accessories can be anything from jewelry to shoes to props. Pack anything you may want or need ahead of time so you don't forget them the day of. Strappy heels are always a fantastic option or even body jewelry that makes you feel like a babe! For props, I suggest bringing personal items that are significant to you or your partner. Do they love sports? Bring their favorite jersey! Are they always kicking it back with a can of Bud Light? Bring a six pack! Are you wanting to propose? Bring the ring!

Hair & Make-up

I highly recommend taking full advantage of our professional hair and make-up services! Included in our session fee is professional hair and make-up application with false lashes to ensure that not only do you look flawless, but you feel flawless! Doing your own hair and make-up can be stressful and frustrating when trying to look your absolute best, so consider letting us take over and giving you the full #treatyoself package.

Choose a Location

I travel to several studios throughout Michigan so we will determine where we're shooting based on where you want to be! I regularly use studios in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Vassar, Flint, Detroit, and Lansing! Not close to any of these locations? No problem! We can always book an Airbnb or a luxury hotel.

Exposure

Your pre-session questionnaire will contain questions about comfortability. This is to ensure that I know what you're okay with during your session! Please be sure to fill out the pre-session questionnaire and ask any and all questions you may have before the day of your session. We will discuss implied nudity, full nudity, partial nudity, etc to ensure that I know what you're comfortable with and hoping for prior to your session. We will also discuss model release forms and your array of options for sharing your images if you choose to do so (however, this is not a requirement)!

Pre-Session Beauty Prep

I suggest getting a manicure and pedicure a few days prior to your session. This will ensure that your nails look absolutely flawless in all photos. If getting your nails done isn't really your speed, no problem! Just be sure to remove any and all chipped nail polish prior to your session. If you wax or shave certain areas on your body, be sure to pencil that into your schedule, as well! If you would like to have a bit of a tan for your session, we recommend doing so a few weeks prior to your session. Remember to consider your outfits when tanning to avoid any tan lines that may show up and look bad in photographs. I suggest staying away from spray tans completely before your session. Spray tans tend to add a hue to skin color when being photographed and can make you appear very orange in photos. Don't forget to get your eyebrows shaped before your session as well!

A few days before your session, consider lowering your salt intake to avoid bloating and also eat a light breakfast the morning of your session (this is just a suggestion and is not to be taken as a dieting requirement). Drink a lot of water leading up to your session to promote beautiful, healthy, and hydrating looking skin and be sure to get a good night's rest the night before. Shave and moisturize any areas that you do not want hair to appear in photos (even if accidentally). Wear a clear gel or spray on deodorant, powder will leave residue on your skin and clothing which will appear in images.

Remember to avoid tight bras, pants, socks, underwear, shirts, etc. the day of your session. Tight clothing will leave red indented lines on your skin that take forever to disappear and I want you looking and feeling your absolute best for your session! Bottom line, dress comfy. Wear sweat and a super cute sweater to your session and bring your going out clothes with you to put on before you leave when we wrap up!

Relax

The most important piece of advice I can give you is to just relax. I will make sure you look and feel absolutely flawless. If you're uncomfortable, it will show in images, so just remember to breathe for a minute and keep calm. I gotchu! You're going to look fucking AMAZING and I will be there with you every step of the way. From laughing the morning away while you get your hair and make-up done to getting into every crazy pose to model it for you before you do it, I've got your back.

As always, I am here for you no matter what you need! Whether you need to text me for outfit advice or just have little questions that are making you anxious, shoot me a text or an email!

Now, let'g go make you feel like an absolute bad bitch!
